A Study of Woman with a Parasol
By Kerri Kane after Claude Monet
June 2018
Acrylic paints on stretched canvas.
Painted in 1886, Woman with a Parasol by Claude Monet is an example of the artist’s studies on light, shadow and perceptions. Monet was a founder of the French Impressionist movement and produced some of the best examples of plein-air landscape painting. He mastered this technique by painting the same countryside scenes over and over.
My first moments spent with Monet and now I’m in love. I can feel the breeze, I can smell the fresh clean air. I hear the summer insects buzzing on this pleasantly warm day.
